Nobody wants to read the fiscal code at 4pm

Why this exists

Late-payment penalties in Moldova follow specific rules. An applicable rate. Compounding periods. Thresholds that legislation adjusts. Miss a detail and the figure is wrong, by a little if you're lucky, by a lot if you're not. Accountants and finance teams end up cross-referencing the fiscal code, plugging numbers into a decade-old spreadsheet, and hoping.

We ran into this ourselves. Clients asked. Our own finance work required it. Instead of maintaining four private spreadsheets forever, we put the calculations on a web page.

Four calculators. One interface.

What it does

Open the page. No login. No onboarding flow. No email capture. Pick a tool:

  • Penalitate: penalty on overdue invoices
  • Dobândă: interest on late payments
  • Inflație: current value of a sum after annual inflation
  • Convertor valutar: conversion at the NBM rate or a custom one

Each tool applies the correct rate, counts the right days, handles the relevant thresholds, and returns the figure. That's the whole product.

A utility built to application standards

Opinions

There's a version of this product that's a rough form, some JavaScript, and a "thanks for using this" message. It would work. It would also look like every other dusty calculator on the Moldovan web.

We went the other way. Indigo primary. DM Sans. Card-based composition. Proper focus states and keyboard handling. The kind of polish that, for a financial tool, isn't ornamental, it's a signal that the math is probably right too.
